Churchill Downs Gears Up for 150th Kentucky Derby with Tech Partnerships and New Experiences

The famed Louisville, Kentucky, racetrack, Churchill Downs, has teamed up with technology leader SAP to elevate the spectator experience, particularly for the historic 150th running of the Kentucky Derby. Churchill Downs, the Kentucky Derby, and the Kentucky Oaks races will all have SAP as their “Official Technology Partner.” As a result of this multi-year agreement, SAP branding will be visible all over the facility, especially in the Starting Gate Suites, a luxurious hospitality area. Additionally, anticipate seeing SAP prominently featured on the Churchill Downs app, which will bring supporters closer to the action. This is viewed as a seamless fusion of innovation and heritage by both Churchill Downs and SAP. Bill Mudd, CEO of Churchill Downs, emphasized their common desire for expansion, while Lloyd Adams, president of SAP US, expressed his delight at taking part in such a renowned occasion.

In a joint venture, Churchill Downs Incorporated and Sports Illustrated have teamed up to establish the “SI Club,” an exclusive Kentucky Derby dining venue. This premier space will offer patrons sophisticated, equestrian-inspired cuisine while they enjoy stunning vistas of the renovated paddock and final stretch. This captivating enhancement to the Derby festivities will premiere during the 2024 Kentucky Derby week, spanning from May 2nd to May 4th. This partnership is a component of Churchill Downs’ $200 million commitment to modernize the facility in anticipation of the momentous 150th Kentucky Derby.

On another note, Churchill Downs recently debuted the Derby City Gaming Downtown, a leisure destination drawing inspiration from the iconic race. This new establishment boasts thrilling historical racing terminals, a cutting-edge sports wagering area, and a retail outlet overflowing with Kentucky Derby souvenirs. This gaming hub is accessible to the public and represents Churchill Downs’ sixth location in Kentucky to provide historical racing machines, creating over 150 new employment opportunities for the regional workforce.
