Terre Haute Casino Resort Opens its Doors in Indiana
Churchill Downs Incorporated has inaugurated its latest entertainment venue, the Terre Haute Casino Resort, situated in Terre Haute, Indiana.
This $290 million development features a 400,000 square-foot complex housing 1,000 slot machines, 36 table games, and a designated sports wagering area. Guests can partake in a range of culinary experiences, including the refined “Four Corners” steakhouse, the relaxed “Rockwood Bar & Grill”, and a selection of other bars and lounges.
Chief Executive Officer Bill Carstanjen highlighted that this grand opening represents only the initial phase of the project’s beneficial influence on Vigo County and the state of Indiana. Although the casino and dining establishments are prepared to receive patrons, the adjacent 122-room upscale hotel, rooftop lounge, and coffee shop are scheduled to commence operations in May 2024.
This endeavor signifies a notable achievement for Churchill Downs Incorporated, broadening its presence to a fourteenth state and marking its entrance into the Indiana gaming sector.
The development of the Terre Haute Casino Resort generated almost 1,000 employment opportunities for the region during its construction phase. Upon completion, the resort anticipates offering approximately 550 permanent positions, encompassing both full-time and part-time roles. The endeavor commenced in June 2022 and is being undertaken collaboratively with Williams Building Company.
In February 2024, Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) proclaimed a collaboration with SAP America, designating SAP as the official technological ally of Churchill Downs Racetrack, the Kentucky Derby, and the Kentucky Oaks.
Within the framework of its $200 million refurbishment initiative leading up to the 150th Kentucky Derby, CDI also revealed intentions for a deluxe dining establishment named “The SI Club.” This exclusive venue, previously recognized as the 1895 Club, will provide patrons with sophisticated cuisine accompanied by vistas of the modernized Paddock and Paddock Runway.
