Allwyn is ecstatic to back the Wings for Life World Run once more in 2024! Occurring on May 5th, this extraordinary event witnesses individuals worldwide running concurrently to gather funds for spinal cord injury studies. Each registration cost and contribution goes straight towards discovering a treatment.

As the delighted manager of the UK National Lottery, Allwyn is approaching its position as a Global Partner earnestly, boosting recognition and generating enthusiasm for this fantastic initiative. The previous year’s run collected an astounding €43 million (approximately $45.8 million!), and the aim is to surpass that objective in 2024.

What distinguishes the Wings for Life World Run is its welcoming nature. It’s irrelevant if you’re a seasoned runner or favor a leisurely walk, everyone is invited! Pavel Turek, Allwyn’s Chief Global Brand, Corporate Communication and CSR Officer, conveyed his zeal: “At Allwyn, we’re devoted to crafting inclusive chances and contributing to the community. The Wings for Life World Run perfectly reflects these principles.” He continued, “We’re privileged to be an official Global Partner for the second consecutive year. Whether participating by running, walking, or encouraging from the sidelines, we triumph as one.”

This run boasts a distinct characteristic. Disregard a conventional finish line – 30 minutes following the starting signal, a virtual Catcher Car commences, progressively accelerating. The instant the Catcher Car overtakes you, your race concludes. It’s an exhilarating pursuit spanning the globe, uniting everyone with a shared objective. Therefore, prepare your running shoes and participate on May 5th!

With the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games drawing near, advocating for sports accessibility is paramount,” stressed Nick Webborn, Paralympics GB Chair. He underscored Paralympics GB’s dedication to “fostering a more inclusive environment for individuals with disabilities through the transformative influence of athletics.”

Webborn lauded the recent collaboration with lottery operator Allwyn, noting their shared goals exemplified by the Wings for Life World Run. “Their principles resonate deeply with ours, demonstrating the profound effect of this event.” Allwyn’s commitment extends beyond monetary backing, encompassing plans to publicize the run across their operational regions, including Austria, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Greece, Cyprus, the UK, and the US, alongside active involvement from their 7,000-person staff.

Wings for Life World Run Director, Mark Herremans, conveyed his personal ties to the initiative, “Having directly observed the life-changing consequences of spinal cord trauma, this alliance with Allwyn and the global community represents a significant stride towards enhancing the lives of those impacted globally.”

On a separate note within corporate social responsibility efforts, the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) proclaimed the triumph of their charitable wagering program linked to the 2024 UK National, accumulating a praiseworthy sum surpassing £15,000 (roughly $18,662) for a range of deserving charities.
